Welcome to Nursery

Here in nursery we are always happy, active and on the go. We are ready to explore and learn from everything we do and don’t mind getting dirty in the process. Our aim in Nursery is to create the firm foundations from which the children can build and achieve their full potential.

We are always glad to hear of your child’s achievements and especially love sharing your child’s wow moments.

Key Information
* PE: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, Friday afternoon
* Toast money is payable on a Monday for the week. (20p a session)
* Fund money is payable on a Monday.
* Wrap Around Care payable on a Wednesday for the following week.

Welcome to Reception

We enjoy learning through focused play both indoors and outdoors.

We are fortunate to have lots of space in which to learn, in all weathers!

It is an exciting time in Reception as children develop the foundations of the curriculum by taking their first steps into reading, writing and early maths, in a fun way.

Key Information:
Please read daily with your child and sign the Reading Diary. This needs to be brought into school every day.
Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school at the beginning of each half term.
We collect toast money (£1) on Monday each week.
The children can bring a named water bottle into school each day.
Please check that your child’s uniform, coat and shoes are labelled so that they can look after their belongings easily.

Welcome to Year 1

Here in Year 1 we are always ready to learn and try our best. Our aim in Year 1 is to get the children used to working gradually. We encourage independent learning especially at the start of the school year, this is achieved through a variety of challenges set around the classroom.

We are always glad to hear of your child’s achievements outside of school.

Key Information
* PE: Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning
* Toast money is payable on a Monday for the week. (£1 per week)
* Spellings are given on a Monday and tested on the following Monday.
* Homework is given on a Friday to be back in school by Wednesday.

Welcome to Year 1/2

Welcome to our class page! We hope that the children enjoy their journey through Key Stage 1 and become confident, independent learners.

This half term our topic is ‘The Place Where I Live’ and the children will be finding out about what life was like in the past along with learning about their local area. If you have anything at home that your child would like to share then please send it in to school.
Reading is a vital part of your child’s education and we ask that you read with your child three times a week and sign their reading diary.

Key Information.
* PE is on a Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure earrings are removed for PE.
* Homework is given out on a Thursday to be returned by the following Tuesday.
* Spelling test is on a Tuesday.
* Toast is £1 per week and payable on a Monday.

Welcome to Year 2/3

In Year 2/3 we work hard, try our best in everything we do, enjoy learning and celebrate our achievements. During the year the children will build upon what they have learnt last year, preparing them for their move into Key Stage 2. We will be covering exciting topics so that the children remain motivated, enthused and eager learners.

Our teacher is Miss Todhunter and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs James. Please do not hesitate to come and see us if you have any questions.

Key Information
* PE: This half term we have PE on a Wednesday morning. Please ensure that your child has their full PE bag in school all of the time and that their kit is fully labelled with their full name. We sometimes need our PE kits for other curriculum activities which may be on a different day to our set PE days.
* Toast money is payable on a Monday for the week (20p per day).
* Homework: The children will have homework on www.activelearnprimary.co.uk each Friday and will be given a piece of English homework fortnightly.
* Please listen to your child read their reading book each day and ensure it is brought into school in their book bag daily. Your child’s book will be changed weekly. Your child will be given spelling homework each Monday and will complete their spelling test on a Friday.

Welcome to Year 3

Our teachers are Miss Parkinson and Mrs Yates and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Boyd. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to pop in to see us.

In Year 3, we are beginning our journey into KS2 and will begin to grow and develop into happy, active juniors.
Children are afforded a little more responsibility when they move into the juniors and we try to encourage children to have a little more independence. The school day is very busy with a varied timetable which as well as English and maths lessons, includes theme lessons which are designed to encourage learning as well as ensure enjoyment by all.

We are going to be learning about lots of exciting things this year including ‘What the Romans did for Us’, ‘There’s No Place Like Home’, ‘How does your Garden’ and ‘Healthy Humans.’
As well as enjoying learning, we expect everyone to try hard and aim high in order to reach their full potential.

* Homework: Issued on a Friday and to be handed in by Wednesday.
* Spellings: Issued on a Monday and tested the following Monday.

Welcome to Year 4

In Year 4 we work hard, make lessons fun and have a positive attitude towards learning. We are not afraid to make mistakes because we know we can learn from them. Our aim in Year 4 is to build on previous successes, become more independent and prepare ourselves for the challenge of upper Key Stage 2.

Expectations in Year 4: We encourage Y4 children to be mature in their approach to school life. We want them to be independent in their thinking and to take responsibility for their own learning. Pupils in Year 4 also have the opportunity to earn a pen licence, enabling them to start writing with a pen for the first time in school.

In Year 4 we love music, learn to play the glockenspiel, read music and perform in the school choir.

* PE: Monday and Friday Mornings. (Please ensure your child has their PE kit in every day)
* Times table test: Wednesday Morning.
* Spellings test: Friday Morning. (New spellings are given out every Monday).
* Homework: Given out on Friday and due in the following Wednesday.

Welcome to Year 5

In Year 5 we aim to encourage children to be inspired, independent and creative. Our curriculum builds on the skills that the children have developed in lower school and we believe that children should become increasingly independent in both their learning and organisation. We have lots of fun in Year 5 and enjoying learning about a wide range of topics including Space, the rainforest and the Ancient Greeks. Challenging and supporting the children is at the heart of our curriculum and we strive to prepare them well so that they can continue to succeed in Year 6.

Key information
* PE days: Tuesday and Friday
* Homework and Spellings: Given out on a Thursday and due back on a Monday.
* Tuck: Children can bring money for tuck each day. Food sold includes: fruit, bagels, toast, yoghurts and milkshake.

Welcome to Year 6, the final chapter of primary school. A year of exciting opportunities, rewarding experiences and challenge! This is your child’s year to shine. From sports competitions to SATs; residential visit; house captains and prefects; quiz competitions to the final production, there is something for everyone in Year 6.

As well as reaching our potential academically, there will be plenty of opportunities to participate in key roles and responsibilities within the school that will equip your child for their transition to secondary school.

In Year 6 children will be expected to work hard but in return, they will be rewarded with many happy memories, lasting friendships, and an increased confidence to take them onto their next adventure.
